After a year and a half of renovation work the planetarium in the LWL-Museum of Natural History was completely modernized and reopened.
Welcome to the planetarium
The large planetarium in the LWL Museum of Natural History is one of the most modern planetariums in Europe. It was freshly renovated and completely renewed and has a variety of offers!
The clear, starry night appears in its most natural way in the planetarium, no matter how the weather conditions might be.
There are children's programs especially for families with small children, as well as events that explain the wonders of the starry sky in an understandable way, offer exciting journeys into the universe and deal with astronomical peculiarities.
In the LWL planetarium there are places for wheelchair users and there is an induction loop. The induction loop enables deaf and hearing impaired people to participate in the planetarium events. The induction loop can be used on all seats and is connected to the fire alarm.
Meteorite und ihre Mutterkörper

Zu Gast ist Dr. Knut Melzer der Universität Münster. Melzer berichtet in seinem Vortrag METEORITE UND IHRE MUTTERKÖRPER über die Gesteinsvielfalt im Sonnensystem.
Unser Sonnensystem entstand aus einer kollabierenden Molekülwolke, die eine Akkretionsscheibe bildete, in der sich Planeten, Monde und Asteroiden entwickelten. Immer wieder kam es zu Kollisionen mit anderen planetaren Objekten. Dabei in den Raum geschleuderte Trümmer extraterrestrischer Gesteine gelangten und gelangen so auch heute noch als Meteorite zur Erde. Diese geben Einblicke in die Geschichte ihrer Mutterkörper. Dr. Knut Metzler berichtet von seinen Forschungen und gibt Einblicke in die Herkunft und Vielfalt von aufgefundenen Meteoriten.
